Dear Mr. Adams,
Thank you for allowing us to adapt HGTTG to a TV series, we would love if you would join our writing team for the episodes in a final approval position. For your consideration are our most important aspects we are considering staying true to, please respond with your decision about the approval position we would be ecstatic for you to have.

I would first of all make the TV series adaptation because it stays true to the original radio show element and allows the focus on the small details that really make the book what it is.  I would ensure to pick the cast very carefully.

I think that the small parts are the most important to capture in the adaptation because they are what makes the book unique and they should be given equal importance as the main parts of the story.

Book Review #1, Red Rising

Summary

In the novel Red Rising the main character Darrow is born to the lowest caste of society, the Reds. The caste system is based off eye color, and after his wife is hung he goes through surgery to change himself to be a Gold, the ruling elite in an attempt to change the balance of power

Context

This is author Pierce Brown's first book. This is the first of a series, and as far as I know it is not tied to anything in the news.

Which parts of the plot worked and which didn’t?

Some parts of The Institute part worked while for the most part it was only used to flesh out some characters while not advancing the plot much

Which scenes(events, characters’ actions, characters’ decisions) help reinforce your opinion?

           

Characters

Which characters were strongest?  Which were weakest?

I think the strongest characters were: Darrow the protagonist (obviously), Mustang, and Sevro, weakest I think were: The Proctors (with the exception of house mars).

Which scenes or quotations help reinforce your opinion?

The story centers around the choices Darrow, Mustang, and Sevro make (M/S because they are Darrow’s best friends)

           The Proctors were some of the least fleshed out and one dimensional characters

What are the big ideas your book is wrestling with? (example:  revenge, loss, family, etc.)

            Revenge, Loss, Family, Acceptance, Forgiveness

            Violence is not the answer because it leads to ultimate destruction and the instigators are always left weak after everything              is destroyed while others are able to recover and overpower the aggressors

Did the writer successfully prove this theme during the course of the book?  How or why not?

            Yes, because those who initiated violence fall from power at various times throughout the book, leaving you wondering if they will fall or not but in the end they are all fallen leaving the ones who did not want violence standing

Why?

            I felt I immediately had to go out and get the next book in the series, which I did.

Book 1 First Impressions

"I would have lived in peace."  This line implies that the character is a gentle spirit, one not inclined to violence and could be taken advantage of.  This is because they try to avoid confrontation at almost all costs.  But since they are now involved with violence they are a stronger character, less likely to be taken advantage of, and generally a "harder" character.

I think the good guys are the "golds" because they are the ones who know how to solve problems and know what to do when things turn out bad.  Even though they are oppressive and murderous I think they will turn out to be the good guys because at the end they will have a reason for doing this and it will probably make sense.

I chose this book because it had good reviews and seemed like a book I would enjoy, the main character overcoming a deep slight and overturning the corrupt.

Why I read

Why do I read?  Books are vessels that transport you across time, and space.  Some say that time travel is impossible yet books do it every day.  Time Travel is not something that we have truly invented but books are the closest thing we have to it.  I love to travel, and learn new things.  Books allow me to travel across the world whenever I please for as long as I like and cheaper too.  Books also allow me to learn all kinds of new things.  With books you can learn how to cook, or how to disassemble a tank, you can also learn how someone feels through their simple word choice and how they describe the elements of their book.  Books written in the past can take you back to that persons time as they lived it, not just some imitation with errors everywhere but actually what happened.  Books can also take you to worlds that never existed and never will, Westeros is a popular place in books that has never nor will ever exist yet you feel as if you are there all the same.
